ASSEMBLYMAN LENO ANNOUNCES LEGISLATION TO HELP FOSTER YOUTH SUCCEED IN SCHOOL AND IN LIFE
Proposals will give foster youth the support they need to graduate college and preserve
relationships with their brothers and sisters
WHAT: A press conference that brings together foster youth and their advocates in support of two bills that Assemblyman Mark Leno has introduced to develop a better system for keeping foster youth siblings connected throughout their lives and to provide foster youth with much needed support toward completing their college education.

AB 2488 establishes a process to reconnect siblings separated by adoption. It will be heard in the Assembly Judiciary Committee on April 18, 2006. AB 2489 will provide foster youth with the academic preparation, financial assistance and the campus-based support they need to complete their college education. It will be heard in the Assembly Higher Education Committee on April 18, 2006.
