San Francisco My Way

A look at the City of San Francisco through my eyes. Places of Interest, Restaurant Review, Community, Underground, Our Politics in Action, What's New, and Classifieds are the pages of the e-zine. You can view the "City" or just check out the free stuff offered. And feel free the e-mail the editor for "targeted advertising" on-site. Again, see San Francisco through my eyes, in the pages of San Francisco My Way.

Hello readers, the Underground Concierge here. I have tried to avoid using my web-site as a “soap-box” of sorts. The general direction for San Francisco My Way is to promote the beauty, diversity and of course the amazing people who live in our City. Yet today I was defeated. My claim that the “Mayors Office” was withholding more documents pertaining to the “Comcast Renegotiations” was dismissed.
In my original Sunshine Request, I had asked for “full and immediate” disclosure of all information from the Mayor's Office pertaining to the Comcast negotiations. After being waylaid and rebuffed, I received a few scant documents that lead me to believe that there was more information that had not been released (which can be found on my web-site by clicking on the City seals). The Sunshine Task Force says that if the Mayor's Office says that they have no documents, then there are no documents to be given. I can accept this.
In my time in Supervisor Chris Daly's office, I watched as the staff created folders on everything from phone calls from constituents on major issues to cover pages from faxes. I assumed that all offices operated in this fashion, little did I know at the time that this was not the way.
The few documents that I was given from the Mayor's Office on Communication lead me to believe that there were more documents. The Deputy Director of the Mayor's Office of Communication did a “piss-poor” job of inquiring certain departments of the information they had and did not follow up any more on the request. The Sunshine Task Force stated that “they did not have the teeth” to delve any further into acquiring any more documents.
So I was asked if I wanted to continue the search at DTIS, which I feel is futile, by the Sunshine Task Force. I stated on the record that the proceedings had left my totally dejected and I said “what use is it if the office says they have no documents”. I also brought up the allegation that Mayor Gavin Newsom has “ear-marked” the monies from the General Fund and from the PEG account to use at 1 South Van Ness and his laughable 311 plan.
When, and I predict “when” these monies are used for these “projects” and San Franciscans see that there is no real plan to sustain these projects, then and only then I would hope that more people speak up. I just hope at that time, that it is not too late.
